Autocraft bodyshop was established in Park Rapids, MN in 1976 by David Vocelka and his father Joe Vocelka Jr. Joe Jr. had learned bodywork from his father Joe Sr. and owned body shops in Chicago and Wisconsin before settling in Park Rapids. Dave, like his dad Joe Jr., also grew up working in the body shops his dad owned. With their second and third generation experience they decided to open Autocraft together.  The shop started out at about a fourth of the size it is today with what is now the middle of the shop. Throughout the years, the business grew and the north end of the shop was added to meet the demand. Most recently (in 2015) an addition on to the south side of the shop was built to accommodate a brand new paint booth and new office area.

In 1999, a new face showed up at the body shop. As a teenager, Joe Henderson had a pickup that needed painting and wondered if he could work the debt off. He ended up working the debt off and then some. Joe, along with his wife Cora, took over the shop in 2013, and Dave retired in 2018. Joe attended Northwest Technical College in Detroit Lakes and earned a degree in Autobody, but has gained most of his knowledge from working hands on at the shop for over 20 years now. Cora attended Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Detroit lakes and earned a degree in Accounting, she keeps the books and is the secretary when their 5 busy kids allow. Joe and Cora are planning to keep Autocraft in operation for years to come. They are also committed to running an honest and reliable shop, in which their customers can depend on to get their car back to looking as good as new.
